Processing Guidelines

We are striving to prevent bacterial contamination of processed poultry. You can help us by observing the following.

Pre-slaughter Guidelines

Feed must be withdrawn from all poultry to be processed. However, it is important that you allow your poultry access to water until you catch them for transport.

Remove access to feed no less than 15 hours prior to slaughter but NOT more than 24 hours.
Pastured poultry must be removed from pasture no less than 24 hours prior to slaughter.
We recommend that you catch your birds after dark.

Transporting Your Poultry

We expect that you will transport your poultry in a clean, humane manner.

We will only accept chickens in approved chicken coops. We do have loaner coops available for a fee. You may arrange either to pick up loaner coops in advance or transfer your birds into our coops upon arrival.
A livestock trailer works well to transport turkeys, but we expect you to help unload the turkeys.
Warning! Do not overcrowd your coops or trailer. Capacity varies based upon weather conditions. Be certain your birds have adequate ventilation and protection from wind exposure. Heat stress and crowding can kill poultry during transit!

Drop Off

Our unloading area is behind the poultry plant. Upon arrival, follow the signs that direct you to live bird delivery and stop by the “Stop Sign”. Our personnel will meet you there to help unload your poultry. We will communicate an estimated pick-up time to you.

Pick up

Check in with the front office prior to loading your product. We require clean clothing and footwear in the office and load out area.
Payment is required upon pick up. We accept cash, check, and most major credit cards. (We do not accept Amex) All returned checks will incur a $30 fee.
We suggest that you bring coolers to transport your chilled product home. We provide ice for sale to chill your product on your return trip if necessary. We also have boxes available for purchase.
